Current graduate students at UCSD

There are several mechanisms for getting involved in research in the Cognitive Development Lab.

Potential graduate applicants

As a first step, explore the Cognitive Science graduate program page and the department page. The department currently has no masters level program. Graduate students in the lab are all PhD candidates in the Cognitive Science department, or in another UCSD department or affiliated program -- most likely the SDSU-UCSD Joint Doctoral Program (PhD) in Language and Communicative Disorders

Getting Involved With Research: UCSD Students

UCSD students can enroll in COGS 160, upon permission. COGS 160 is a mixed Practicum/Seminar course designed to provide hands-on experience in research on infancy and early childhood. Students learn skills and are assigned responsibilities based on the project to which they are assigned. Students also participate in a journal club and prepare brief end-of-quarter presentations and reports.

COGS 160 is a 3-quarter sequence. Content, skills, and responsibilities expand every quarter.

Students work with a supervisor who oversees training and task progress.
